Barry Borham
Barry has a particular interest in working with men on emotional issues. "For men in our society it often seems as if it is wrong to have any emotion other than anger. This can be extremely destructive to a relationship where their partner either wants them to understand what they are feeling or wants to understand what the man in their life is feeling." All too often these unacknowledged feelings express themselves in angry words, aggression, withdrawal or violence. I have worked with couples where the man has told me "I don't have any feelings". In that case the couple had been married for over 25 years. His wife looked at me and told me 'It's true. He doesn't have any feelings.' I remember the joy on his face when he was able to express his feelings and her joy when he was able to express them to her - when he was able to be honest with himself & her about how he felt and both he and she were able to accept each other as they were." He also likes to work with people on solutions that work for them in relation to their life skills, careers and workplace coaching. It is about finding solutions that work for you. Barry's formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts a Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling & is currently completing a Master of Counselling. Barry uses Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Therapy, (SFT) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Narrative Therapy and always takes a client cantered approach. Fees:Barry: I work with couples and individuals. My couple rate is $100 with individuals being $90 per standard session. Discounts apply for pensioners, students and people who are unemployed. To make fee arrangements for your particular circumstance please contact me directly. Please note that we do not have EFTPOS or credit card facilities. About Barry:Barry has an intense interest in people and continues academic study into issues to do with people, the troubles and problematic situations they are confronted with and counselling responses to these. Barry is also involved in voluntary work through a program for couples in crises called "Retrouvaille" a French word meaning rediscovery (see www.retrouvaille.org). In his spare time Barry loves to bushwalk with his wife, family and friends, do photography and write fiction (see barryborham.com.au for information on his latest novel "Savage Dreaming". |
